AI agents are joining project teams. They write code, draft documents, run workflows, and post updates around the clock, and many people expect them to make project managers less necessary. In practice, they make the PM’s job bigger. Projects already fail because problems surface too late, decisions stall, and coordination can’t keep up, and agents make all three worse. Updates pile up faster than anyone can read them, it’s unclear who owns an agent’s output, and plans change faster than anyone can update them.
In this session, Keshav Puttaswamy, CPO of Empwr and a product leader who spent 17 years working on Microsoft Project, looks at how the PM’s three core jobs (staying connected, keeping the plan current, and communicating to drive action) are stretched when the team includes both people and AI agents. He’ll cover practical ways to set accountability, decision rights, and communication for both audiences, and how PMs can use AI to handle the routine work of project management, like taking notes, collecting status, keeping everyone informed, and raising risks early, so they can spend their time on judgment.
The session ends with a live look at how the Empwr team coordinates humans and AI agents day to day, followed by Q&A. Attendees will leave with concrete practices they can apply to their own hybrid teams right away.
Live Q&A + practical frameworks you can deploy with your PMO immediately.
