PMI’s Practice Standard for Scheduling includes a method for measuring how well a schedule model conforms to the standard: the Conformance Index. This event is for schedulers who are familiar with more common schedule health models like the DCMA 14-Point Assessment, but who may not have been exposed to PMI’s approach.
This session explains how PMI frames a CPM schedule, from the scheduling method and tool to the schedule model, its instances and the presentations people see. It covers the components that make up a schedule model and how they are grouped: the core set every schedule needs, the resource, risk and earned value sets your project documents may require, and the optional and not-scored components. You’ll see how the score is calculated, why a schedule missing any required component can’t be scored at all, and why the lowest recordable score is 32.
The session closes with a simple four-question method for assessing any component in whatever tool you use, with worked examples in Microsoft Project and ProjectXL. It is the first in a monthly series that will take the Conformance Index one set at a time, and then compare PMI’s approach with other major schedule assessment guides.
