Tagged: Mass Updates
I am a PWA administrator and at time, multiple projects need to be updated to accommodate new fields or corrected data.
Is there a way to do this using something like Excel?
We would rather not “purchase” another third-party add-on to do our work if possible.
Thanks.
Norman, there are a variety of third party tools that provide bulk edit capability, and some of them are free. If cost is the issue, a solution from Nearbaseline is available right from the Microsoft store. If the issue is about adding another third part tool, then the only solution I know of is using Microsoft Project. Excel is not an option with Project Server. Take a look at this MPUG article https://mpug.com/articles/3-step-bulk-editing-project-server/ that describes how to do it. Personally I’m not a fan of this solution, especially in a large environment. I would not suggest opening up too many projects at once, but if you have a saved view it might be easier than using PWA.
My real recommendation is to go buy a good tool, but I’m trying to provide you an answer based on your requirements. Hope this helps…
Thank you Larry. Your insight is always appreciated.
