  A few users are getting this message when trying to open a project in PROJECT PRO from PROJECT ONLINE …. “Server you are trying to access is using an authentication protocol not supported by this version of OFFICE.”
  
  When I have the person open Project Pro pointing towards our Project Server instance and then try to open the project from PROJECT ONLINE, it works.
  
  Why is this happening?

  John, I know this happened to me and eventually fixed itself. I might suggest having them check for office updates and see if that helps.
