I am trying to add additional resources to our resource center and am encountering an “unknown error”. Is there a limit to the number of resources that can be added to the resource center?
I have tried doing this by making the resource generic, and it still get the error.
I had our IT Department shut down the whole system and reboot and still getting “unknown error”.
Has anyone else encountered this when trying to add additional resources? We are at around
There may be a limit to the number of resources that you can add to the Project Server Enterprise Resource Pool, but if there is, it is extremely large (more than you have in your company, for sure).
I suspect that something is broken in your system. What exact steps are you taking to add these resources? Are you adding them via PWA or via Project Pro?
I suggest checking the Project Server queue (in the PWA Server Settings area) for errors, and if that doesn’t provide any good clues, then I suggest checking the server event logs and the server ULS logs.
We checked all of the event logs for the application server and database server. Nothing indicates an issues that would cause this. We have confirmed the systems have all the latest service packs and hot fixes. We have tried restoring to a previous data with no luck. We have not been able to find anything that pertains to this error. Any ideas?

How are you attempting to add the resources? Are you manually adding them through Project Pro, PWA, Active Directory synchronization, or some other method?
Based on the error information that you posted, it seems that there may be a permission issue, or perhaps an issue with a system service account. We may need to take this offline for more detailed troubleshooting.
