Formula for custom field only works on 1st and 2nd level, not 3rd level, why?

Hi All
in my case, 1st level is master project, 2nd level is subproject,3rd level is tasks of subproject. I have four custom fields to input how much work of each task has been done per week, the 5th custom filed is simply sum the four columns value, cause i want to know how much work has been done in the month. the problem is only the cells on 5th column for master project summary and subproject summary execute the formula, but the cells on 5th column for tasks of subproject don’t exceute the formula, and the cell’s value can be input manually. So why and how to fix it?
