      Is it possible in project 2010 to produce a resource summary that shows the resource allocation as percent of the total work for each top-level task?

      Not out of the box, but this can be easily done using a VBA macro to add this information to a custom text field so it can be displayed agains summary tasks.

      I am of using the Grouping feature. Pls give a try. It is simple.

      You can group resources add your own fields to it for a custom grouping.
