      If a user is complaining that spreadsheets and word documents are being opened within the internet explorer browser from a Project Site and not in the required application, then the issue may a simple Windows Explorer setting.
      You can check the setting following these steps:

      a)      Windows Explorer -> Tools / Folder Options ->File Types tab

      b)      Select file type (e.g.DOC) ->Advanced -> Uncheck “Browse in same window”.
